The Community Grows!
Our film community is growing every day! We wanted to take the opportunity to showcase some of our newest community partners, and share our thanks that they are supporting Other Almosts.
B95
B95 is one of the major radio station servicing Sycamore and the DeKalb County area. Apart from reporting on local news and promoting local businesses, they live up to their motto "From DeKalb County, For DeKalb County" by providing scholarships for high school students headed to college to pursue broadcasting or journalism.
B95 and Brian Adams interviewed our writer/director on their segment "Spectrum," and helped generate a lot of buzz for the film and our campaign. Give them a listen if you get a chance!
The MidWeek
The MidWeek has a long history in Sycamore. As part of Shaw Media in the MidWest, it's the third oldest continuously owned and operated family newspaper in the country - started all the way back in 1851! The MidWeek reaches over 60,000 readers, and is a free newspaper. It has won over 100 awards at the state, regional, and national levels.
For their "On the Record" segment in the paper, reporter Katrina Milton interviewed our writer/director. It helped raise awareness about our project and our story. Pick up a copy or check them out online!
Slow Smoke BBQ
Slow Smoke BBQ got its start catering in 2010. A love of barbecuing for family events led them to bring their talents to the community at large. They bought a Lang BBQ Smoker (the best on the market) back in 2009 and have been cooking up a storm ever since. A homegrown business through and through, they make their own BBQ sauces, use their own blend of spices, and use wood from their own land to smoke the meat!
Slow Smoke BBQ generously donated food to our campaign to help feed the cast and crew. We really want to eat it, so be sure to help our campaign and visit Slow Smoke BBQ when you're hungry!
Thanks to all of these community partners for supporting Other Almosts and getting involved. Thanks too to all of the Sycamore, Illinois, and Midwest community leaders who have followed, donated, and spread the word about our film. And thanks to everyone reading this who has followed, shared, or donated! We still have a lot to do before the campaign closes, but your support means so much to us!
